Where to Start
Call the planning and zoning office for the parcel's city or county. Kentucky's Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction publishes adopted code information at dhbc.ky.gov. Land use questions remain local under Chapter 100 of the Kentucky Revised Statutes.
Louisville, Lexington and Bowling Green Are Not One Rule
Louisville Metro, Lexington Fayette and Bowling Green publish different local planning and building resources. Use the official sources for the address instead of assuming one city rule applies statewide.
Design the Foundation for Four Points
A container concentrates its load through four corner castings. A home project needs a foundation and anchoring plan designed for the structure, soil, drainage and local code.
Make the Roof a Real Building Element
A container roof is not automatically the finished roof of an occupied home. A separate roof structure can create shade, improve drainage and give the insulation assembly more room.
Delivery Is Part of the Design
Container One requires 110 feet of straight unobstructed space for a 20ft box, 130 feet for a 40ft box, at least 10 feet of width, 15 feet of height to drive and 22 feet of height along the unloading path. It publishes no fixed delivery window.
Current Delivered Pricing in Kentucky
Kentucky pricing starts at $2,152 for a 20ft Wind and Water Tight container delivered in Lexington, as of September 30, 2026. Engineering, foundation, roof, openings, insulation, utilities and permits are separate project decisions.
